Ashoka (or Asoka) was India's great emperor of the Mauryan Dynasty of India.
Ashok was the grandson of Chandra Gupta who founded the Maurya Empire.
The name of his father was Bindusar.
He was most famous of the Mauryan emperors, was a professed Buddhist.
He ruled from 304-232 BC.
Ashoka is often cited as one of India's greatest emperors.
He was the first king to educate his men and lead them to the path of truth.

The famous Mauryan ruler was Ashoka.He was the first ruler whi tried to take his message to the people through inscriptions. He is the only king in the history of the world who gave up the conquest after winning the war.Ashokas dhamma did not involved of a god , or performance of sacrifice. He was also inspired by the teachings of the buddha. He built roads , hospitals for humans and animals. Even he dug wells and built houses
