METALS :


♣ Copper :-

→ For making electrical wires.

→ Car radiators and condensers are made.

→ used for making coins, statues, etc.

→ used for making boilers.


♣ Aluminium :-

→ used for making cooking vessels.

→ Transmission wires and cables.

→ Aluminium foils are used for wrapping chocolates, medicines, foodstuffs, etc.

→ mixed with certain metals, it is used in the construction of aircraft.


♣ Iron :-

→ pipes, sinks, storage tanks , railings are made of cast iron ( an impure form of iron ).

→ used in manufacturing nails, gates, nuts and bolts, chains, wire net for fencing etc.

→ stainless steel is used for making utensils , cutlery, surgical instruments of stainless steel.


♣ Gold and silver :-

→ They are commonly used for making jewelleries and ornaments.


♣ Zinc :-

→ Zinc is used for galvanising iron particles to prevent and protect them from rusting.


♣ Mercury :-

→ used in thermometer.


♣ Tungsten :-

→ Used in bulbs of the filament .


♣ Magnesium :-

→ used for making electronic parts such as mobile phones, laptop and tablet computers, cameras, and other electronic components.

NON- METALS :


♠ Hydrogen :-

→ Used for making fertilisers by ammonia .

→ Liquid hydrogen is used as a fuel in spaceships.

→ For converting vegetables oils into ghee.

→ As a reducing Agent.


♠ Carbon :-

→ Diamond is used as gem, for cutting glass , marbles etc.

→ Graphite is used as a lubricant, as electrodes , and as lead in pencils.

→ Coal is used as a fuel.

→ Charcoal is used as a decolourising agent in sugar industry.


♠ Nitrogen :-

→ It is used in food canning and in electrical bulbs etc.

→ Used for producing nitrogen compounds which are used as Fertilisers.

→ used for providing low temperature to store human organs.


♠ Oxygen :-

→ Human beings and animals use oxygen of the air for breathing .

→ In hospitals , it is given to serious patients.

→ In Industries​ it is used :

# For the oxidation of ammonia to nitric acid.
# In the manufacture of steel to oxidise impurities.
# For Flame for cutting and welding metal scrap.

→ In the manufacture of sulphuric acid.


♠ Sulphur :-

→ As the fungicide and insectcide .

→ In the manufacture of sulphuric acid.
