Demerits of communalism -
1. Communalism encourages violence among different religious groups which lead to loss of life and property.
2. Communalism brings a feeling of suspicion and tension among different sections of our society.
3. All productive activities are stopped or interrupted due to communalism and breaks the spirit of unity and brotherhood in the country.
All kinds of communalism are dangerous.
Just before 1947, the main damage to national unity was inflicted by Muslim Communalism which led to the partition of India.
Following religion is not an issue.
But discriminating and deciding people on the basis of religion is a great problem. India is a secular state which means non-religious.
But, in reality it is not true. Many destructive forces obstruct the peace and unity of people by using communalism.
