Let total peanuts equal to x
Now, he gave 2/3rd to squrells which is equal to 2/3*x
He gave 1/4th to crows which is equal to 1/4*x
Now he is left with 12 peanuts
= peanuts given to squirrels + peanuts given to crows + peanuts left = total peanuts
=2/3*x+1/4*x+12=x
=11x+144=12x
=x=144
