Question:-

A cricketer has a mean score of 60 runs in ten

innings. Find out how many runs are to be scored

in the eleventh innings to raise the mean score to 62.

Answer :-

Mean score in 10 innings = 60 runs

Mean score in 11 innings = 62 runs

Thus,

Total runs scored upto 10th innings = (60 × 10) = 600 runs

Total runs scored upto 11th innings = (62 × 11) = 682 runs

So,

Runs needed to be scored in order to raise the mean to 62

= 682 - 600

= 82 runs
