Given :-

Cost price of the motorcycle :- ₹ 35500

Selling price of the motorcycle :- ₹ 33370

To Find :-

Loss and loss percentage of the motorcycle

Formula required :-

Loss :-

{\large \tt \dashrightarrow \orange{\boxed{\tt \gray{CP - SP}}}}

Loss percentage :-

{\large \tt \dashrightarrow \orange{\boxed{\tt \gray{\dfrac{Loss}{Cost \: price} \times 100}}}}

Solution :-

First, we should find the loss of the motorcycle by using the first formula and then we should find the loss percentage

Loss :-

{\tt \longrightarrow 35500 - 33370}

{\tt \longrightarrow Rs \: \: 2130}

Now,

Loss percentage :-

{\tt \longrightarrow \dfrac{2130}{35500} \times 100}

{\tt \longrightarrow \dfrac{2130}{ \cancel{35500}} \times \cancel{100} = \dfrac{2130}{355} \times 1}

{\tt \longrightarrow \dfrac{2130 \times 1}{355} = \dfrac{2130}{355}}

{\tt \longrightarrow \cancel \dfrac{2130}{355} = \boxed{\tt 6 \bf\%}}

\Huge\therefore The loss of the motorcycle is 2130 and the loss percentage is 6 {\bf\%}.

\dashrightarrow Some related formulas :-

Profit :- {\boxed{\tt SP-CP}}

Profit percentage :- {\boxed{\tt\dfrac{Profit}{CP} \times 100}}

More to know :-

  • Profit and loss are obtained for all shopkeepers in their shops. The profit is obtained when the selling price is greater than cost price. The loss is obtained when the cost price is greater than selling price. The profit and loss can also be converted into percentage format by some mathematical formulas.
  • To convert the profit to percentage from, first we should divide the profit and cost price and then multiply by 100.
  • To convert the loss to percentage form, first we should divide the loss and cost price and then multiply by 100.

Answer:

  •  \boxed{ \pink{ \sf{Loss = 2,130}}}

  •  \boxed{\pink{\sf{Loss\% = 6}}}

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

  • A dealer buys a motor cycle for 35,500

  • He sells it for 33,370

To Find

  • His Loss And Loss %

Solution

  • We know that to find Loss we use the Formula

  •  \boxed{ \pink{ \sf{Loss = C.P - S.P}}}

  • Given 》C.P = 35,500

  • Given 》 S.P = 33,370

  • Loos = 35,500 - 33,370

  •  \boxed{ \pink{ \sf{Loss = 2,130}}}

  • Now, Let's Find Loss %

  • We know to find Loss %, we use the Formula

  •  \boxed{ \pink{ \sf{Loss \% = \frac{Loss}{C.P} \times 100}}}

  • \longrightarrow  \tt Loss \%=\frac{2,130}{35,500} \times 100

  • \longrightarrow  \tt Loss \% =  \frac{2,130}{35,5 \cancel0 \cancel0} \times 1 \cancel0 \cancel0

  •  \longrightarrow \tt Loss\% = \cancel\frac{2130}{355}

  •  \longrightarrow \tt Loss\% = \frac{426}{71}

  •  \longrightarrow \tt Loss\% = \cancel \frac{426}{71}

  •  \boxed{\sf{Loss\% = 6}}

MasterDhruva: You can make the fraction size bigger by writing \dfrac{}{}
MasterDhruva: Use \dfrac instead of \frac
