Step-by-step explanation:

Given  A lord got an order from a garment manufacturer  for 480 Denim Shirts. He bought 12 sewing ma-  chines and appointed some expert tailors to do  the job. However, many didn't report for duty.  As a result, each of those who did, had to stitch  32 more shirts than originally planned by Alord,  with equal distribution of work. How many tailors  had been appointed earlier and how many had not  reported for work?

  • Given the order Alord got from a garment manufacturer for 480 shirts. Let m and n be some of the expert tailors appointed and assuming n number of persons did not turn up.
  • Therefore work done by each person will increase by 32.
  • So we can write this as 480 / m – n – 480 / m = 32
  • Now by checking from the options we get m = 10 and n = 4
  •                So 480 / 10 – 4 – 480 / 10 = 32
  •              So 480 / 6 – 48
  •                80 – 48
  •                32
  • So we get m = 10 and n = 4
