Given :-

Initial velocity of particle = u = 40 ms-¹

Time = t = 5 s

Acceleration due to gravity = g = -10 ms-²

Body is going upward so acceleration is negative.

Using Second equation of Motion.

H = ut - 1/2 gt²

H = 40 × 5 - 1/2 × 10 × 5 × 5

H = 200 - 125

H = 75 m.

Hence,

The height attained by particle = H = 75 m.
