(11. A rectangular field has a path 5 m wide running round it. If the rectangle formed by the
path and the field is 200 m x 60 m, find
(i) the area of the path, and
(ii) the cost of constructing the path at 15 per m.​

Total length of the path Perimeter = 2 ( l + b )

= 2 (200+60)

=520

Area of the path= Length × Width

= 520×5

= 2600 m

Cost of construction= Area × Cose per metre

= 15×2600

= Ts. 39000 Ans.

let width of path = x = 5m

(i ) area of the path outside rectangle

= 2x(l+b +2x) = 2×5(200+60 + 2×5)

= 10×270 = 2700 m^2

(ii) cost of constructing the path

= 2700/15 = Rs 180
