Explanation: The Resistance of a substance is dependent upon Area of cross section, Material of wire, temperature, length of the wire.

However Resistivity only depends on Material and Temperature.

As after cutting the wire into 3 pieces, NEW LENGTH = L/3 and according to the formula R=rho*L/A ; new Resistance is 'initial/3' or R/3

But Resistivity remains same as temperature and material are constant.
