we have to calculate the wavenumber of electromagnetic radiation with wavelength is 250 pm.

solution : wavenumber is the number of waves in a specific distance. it is the reciprocal of wavelength.

  ⇒ wavenumber , \bar \nu = \frac{1}{\lambda}

here, wavelength = 250 pm = 250 × 10⁻¹² m = 2.5 × 10⁻¹⁰ m

now wavenumber, \bar\nu = \frac{1}{2.5\times10^{-10}}  = 0.4 × 10¹⁰ m⁻¹ = 4 × 10⁹ m⁻¹

therefore the wavenumber of electromagnetic radiation with wavelength is 250pm , is 4 × 10⁹ m⁻¹
