11. Find the perimeter and the area of the figure, shown. (Take = Pie 22/7)

Given,

Figure

side of square = 14cm  

diameter of the semi circle = side of square = 14cm

To find,

Area and Perimeter of the figure

Solution,

radius of the circle = d/2

= 14/2

= 7cm

Area of the figure = area of square + area of 4 semi-circles

= side² + πr² + πr²

= 14² + (22/7 x 7 x 7) + (22/7 x 7 x 7)

= 196 + (22 x 7) + (22 x 7)

= 196 + 154 + 154

= 504cm²

The perimeter of the figure = perimeter of the 4 semi-circles

= 2πr + 2πr

=  (2 x 22/7 x 7) + (2 x 22/7 x 7)

= (2 x 22) + (2 x 22)

= 44 + 44

= 88cm

Thus, the perimeter of the figure is 88cm and its area is 504cm²
