Unshaded area = Area of rectangle - area of shaded region

=>unshaded area = l×b - area of shaded region

= 16×12 - area of shaded region

= 192cm^2 - area of shaded region

Let's calculate area of shaded region separately i.e. = 1/2×4×4×6 + 1/2×2×6×3

= 48 + 18 = 66cm^2[ We know area of triangle = 1/2×b×h, Here in fig.,2 type of shaded triangles are given.1st type of triangle is that which has b=4cm,h=4cm & 2nd type of triangle is that which has b=2cm,h=6cm.The 1st type of triangles are 6 in number ,therefore we have multiplied area of 1st type of triangle by 6 & 2nd type of triangles are 3 in number, therefore we have multiplied area of 2nd type of triangle by 3 ]

Therefore,unshaded area=(192-66)cm^2

=C) 126cm^2 ans.
