Index:

The index is also known as power or exponent. It is written on the right side above the base number. It tells how many times the base number should be multiply.

For Example :

 =  >  {2}^{3}

In the above example, 2 is known as base and 3 is known as index or power.

It should be read as "2 to the power of 3" or "2 cube".

2 should multiply with itself 3 times.

 =  >  {2}^{3}  = 2 \times 2 \times 2

 =  >  {2}^{3}  = 8
