Given : Anil and Barun are 40 m/s and 40 km/hr respectively

To Find :  the ratio of time taken to cover a certain distance by them

Solution:

Ani speed =   40 m/s

Barun speed = 40 km/hr  = 40 * 1000 / 3600  m/s

= 100/9  m/s

Distance  =    d  m

Time taken by Anil = d/40

Time taken by Barun  d/(100/9)  = 9d/100

Ratio   of time taken   =  d/40  :  9d/100

=  d/2  :  9d/5

=  1/2  :  9/5

=  5 : 18

Ratio   of time taken   is 5 : 18

Answer:

The ratio of time taken to cover a certain distance by them is 5:18.

Options B is correct answer

Step-by-step explanation:

Approved Question :

If the speed of Anil and Barun are 40 m/s and 40 km/hr respectively, then the ratio of time taken to cover a certain distance by them is:-

a) 1:1

b) 5:18

c) 1:2

d)18:5

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Given that,

  • Anil's Speed = 40m/s.

  • Barun's Speed = 40km/s.

To find out :-

  • The ratio of time taken to cover a certain distance by them.

Solution :-

First, we have to convert both the speed in same units.

So, convert both the speed in m/s (meter per second)

Now,

 \rm \rightarrow Anil's \: speed = 40m/s (already \: in \: m/s)\\ \\ \rm \rightarrow Barun's \: speed = 40km/h \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \\ \\ = \frac{40 \times 1000}{3600} \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \\ \\ = \frac{ \cancel{40}^{ \: \: \: 1} \times 100 \cancel0}{ \cancel{360} \cancel{0}}_{9 \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: } \\ \\ \therefore\frac{100}{9} \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \:

Formulae:-

 \bigstar \boxed{ \rm Time =  \dfrac{distance}{speed}}

By the furmulae:-

Let distance is 'd' (in meter).

 \rm \rightarrow Time \: taken \: by \: Anil = \frac{d}{40} \: \: \: \: \: \\ \\ \rm \rightarrow Time \:taken\:by\: Barun = \dfrac{ \frac{d}{100} }{9} \\ \\ = \dfrac{d}{100} \times \frac{9}{1} \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \\ \\ \therefore \frac{9d}{100} \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \:

 \boxed{ \rm Ratio = \dfrac{Anil's \: speed}{Barun's \: speed}} \bigstar \\ \\ \rm\bf Ratio = Anil's \: speed :Barun's \: speed \\ \\ = \dfrac{ \dfrac{d}{2} }{ \dfrac{9d}{5} } \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \\ \\ = \dfrac{ \cancel{d}}{2} \times \frac{5}{9 \cancel{d}} \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \\ \\ = \frac{5}{18} \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \\ \\ \therefore \bf5 : 18 \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \:

Hence, The ratio of time taken to cover a certain distance by them is 5:18.
