Answer:

HEY THERE,

It is given that x = a and y = b

now, putting given x = a and y = b in given equations

we get, a - b = 2 .........(i)

and a + b = 4.............(ii)

Now by applying ELIMINATION method in the given equation we get,

a - b = 2

a + b = 4

-----------------

2a + 0b = 6...........(iii)

-----------------

From equation (iii) 2a = 6 therefore , a = 3.

putting value of a =3 in equation (i) we get ,

3 - b = 2 therefore , b= 1

Therefore,value of a = 3 and b = 1.

Answer:

a = 3 : b = 1

Step-by-step explanation:

x = 4-y and y = 4

4-y-y = 2

-2y = -2

y = 1

x = 4-y

  4-1 = 3

x = 3

y = 1

3 - 1 = 2

3 + 1 = 2
