Given equation :-

x^{2} y+y^{2}+3

Equation that has to be subtracted :-

3x+y+2y^{2}+5

Net equation after subtraction :-

x^{2} y+y^{2}+3-(3x+y+2y^{2}+5)

= x^{2} y+y^{2}+3-3x-y-2y^{2}-5)

= x^{2} y-y^{2}+-y-3x-2

= (x^{2}-1) y-y^{2}-3x-2

Clearly, the coefficient of y in the above equation is x^{2} -1
