i.) given number of votes are 1200

Implies Y=1200

Therefore number of voters =X=  5/3  Y =  5/3  ×1200=2000

ii.) now given no of voters =800

i.e X=800

Therefore we know Y=  3/5 ×X

⇒Y=  3/5  ×800=480
