11. In the given figure AB is a diameter of the circle with centre O. CD cuts AB at E such that OE = EB. If CE = 4cm and
ED = 3cm find the radius of the circle.

in the given figure a circle with center o is given in which a diameter AB bisects the chord CD at a point E such that CE= ED= 8cm and EB = 4cm. find the radius of the circle..

Solution

Let the radius of circle be x cm

OE=x-4

OC=x

CE=8cm

In triangle OCE

By pythagoras theorem

OC = CE +OE

OC =64+x^2-4x +16

x^2=64 +x^2-4x+16

4x=80

x=20
