to his daughter and remaining to his wife who got 84000.
What was the total amount?​

Let the total amount = x

The amount given to his son and daughters = $\frac{x}{3}$+$\frac{x}{5}$ = $\frac{8x}{15}$

Remaining = 1-$\frac{8x}{15}$ = $\frac{7x}{15}$

This amount has given to his wife,  

                                                            $\frac{7x}{15}$ = 84000

                                                              x = 84000 × $\frac{15}{7}$

                                                                 = 12000 × 15

                                                                 = 1,80,000

∴ Total amount = Rs. 1,80,000
