c. Plant cell shrinks when kept in hypertonic solution because there is higher concentration of water inside the cell than that of outside the cell, therefore endosmosis occurs and the cell become flaccid.

1.In the mitochondria, respiratory enzymes are present that help in oxidation of food material and release of energy. The energy is stored in the form of ATP(Adenosine Triphosphate ). The stored energy facilitates various metabolic activities. Hence, they are called "powerhouses of the cell".

2.Plastids are able to make their own proteins because they contain small,circular DNA,ribosomes and the enzymes required for the synthesis of proteins.

3.Plant cell shrinks when kept in hypertonic solution because the medium has lower concentration of water than the cell ,the cell will lose water by exosmosis
