11. The area of a rectangular ground is 120 m2 and its length is 12 m. Find the cost of fencing the
ground at the rate of 125 per metre.​

Given:

area of rectangular ground = 120m^2

l = length =12m

to find:

totAl cost

SOl.

ar(rectangle) = l*b

120 = l*b

120 = 12 *b

b = 10m

now ,

perimeter is required for calculating the total amount of fencing

perimeter of rectangle = 2(l+b)

= 2(12 + 10)

= 44m

now , totAl cost will be

= 44 * 125

= Rs 5500/-

  • Total cost of fencing on the ground

Explanation

Using Formula

Area of rectangle = Length × Breadth

Perimeter of rectangle [ 2×(Length +Breadth)

So, Now

==> Area of rectangular ground = 120

==> Length × Breadth = 120

==> 12 × Breadth = 120

==> Breadth = 120/12

==> Breadth = 10

Now, Calculate perimeter

==> Perimeter of rectangular ground = 2×(Length + Breadth )

==>Perimeter of rectangular ground = 2 × (12 + 10)

==>Perimeter of rectangular ground = 2 × 22

==>Perimeter of rectangular ground = 44 meter

Here,

rate of cost fencing on ground of 1 meter = 125

Then,

rate of cost fencing of ground of 44 meter = 125 × 44

rate of cost fencing of ground of 44 meter = 500 × 11

rate of cost fencing of ground of 44 meter = 5500

Hence

  • Total cost will be = ₹ 5500
