Given : The dome of a temple is in the shape of a cone with radius 3.5m

and height 12 m.

Rate of  cost of painting Rs 30/m²

To Find : cost of painting its outer surface

Solution:

radius  r= 3.5m = 7/2 m

Height  h =  12 m

Slant height = L

L² = r² + h²

=> L² = (7/2)² + 12²

=> L² = ( 7² + 24)²/2²

=> L² = 25²/2²

=> L = 25/2 m

outer surface = πrL

= (22/7) (7/2) (25/2)

= 275/2  m²

Rate of  cost of painting Rs 30/m²

Hence  cost of painting its outer surface = 30 x   275/2

= 4,125  Rs
