11. The electric field on two sides of a large charged
plate is shown in the below Fig. The charge density

here we have given two different sides of different electric fields. so first we should assume a definite external electric field , E through in the same direction (i.e., West to East )

and let electric field due to charged sheet is E' acting both sides of it as shown in figure.

now E - E' = 8 .....(1)

and E + E' = 12......(2)

from equations (1) and (2) we get,

E = 10 and E' = 2

but we know, electric field due to charged sheet is given by, E' = σ/2∈_0

⇒2 = σ/2∈_0

⇒σ = 4∈_0

hence, surface charge density of sheet is 4∈_0.

option (2) is correct choice.
