The net electric field at the centre of the square will be in the direction towards D.

  • The electric field at the centre of the square due to the two opposite diagonal point charges at A and C will be equal in magnitude an opposite in direction and hence will cancel out each other.
  • Therefore, the net electric field at the centre of the square will be only due to the charge placed at B, which will be in a direction away from B , i.e, pointing in the direction towards D.
