Slime Moulds are the saprophytic protists as they move along the decaying fallen leaves and twigs by engulfing organic matter.

Under favourable conditions, slime moulds produce plasmodiums which can grow over several feet.

These plasmodiums are diploid and multinucleated and move by the help of pseudopodia.
