The mass of a gas dissolved in a given amount of a liq at constant temp is directly proportional to the pressure of gas present in equilibrium with the liq. M/P=K.
1. pressure should be low n temp should be high i.e, the gas should behave like an ideal gas
2. the gas should be only slightly soluble in liq nd should neither undergo association nd dissociation in the solvent nor react with the solvent
