Answer:

the perimeter of regular pentagon>the perimeter of rectangle by 8 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

perimeter of regular pentagon = 5s

= 10x5

=50 cm

perimeter of rectangle = 2(l+b)

=2(17+12)

=2x29

=58 cm

hence the perimeter of regular pentagon>the perimeter of rectangle by 8 cm

\bf\bigstar{QUESTION}

Which has a greater perimeter-a regular pentagon of side 10 cm or

a rectangle with sides 17 cm and  12 cm, and by how much?

\bf\bigstar{ANSWER}

Given :

Regular pentagon with side 10 cm.

Length of a rectangle = 17 cm

It's breadth = 12 cm

To find :

Perimeter of which one is greater ?

Rectangle or regular pentagon

Solution :

Perimeter of a regular pentagon = 5 x sides

It is given that it's each side is 10 cm.

Perimeter = 5 x 10 cm.

               =  50 cm.

Perimeter of a rectangle = 2 ( l + b )

Length = 17 cm

Breadth = 12 cm.

Perimeter = 2 ( 17 + 12 ) cm

                = 2 ( 29 ) cm

               = 58 cm.

From this , it is clear that perimeter of rectangle is greater than

perimeter of regular pentagon.

Difference b/w their perimeter

                          = Perimeter of rectangle - perimeter of regular pentagon

                          =  58 cm - 50 cm

                         = 8 cm.
