About the poem -
➩ The poem is a legend which narrates the story of an old lady who angered Saint Peter because of her greed. A legend of the North land is an old and also a traditional story which is considered to be historical but it is not authenticated.
➩ The story is about a saint peter who travelled around the North land. He reached a cottage where an old lady was baking cakes. As Saint Peter was hungry he asked that lady to give him one cake.
➩ As you know that lady was very greedy, She made a small cake for Saint Peter but it was too big to give it away. So she made another smaller than the first one but it seemed big as the first one.
Her provoking actions made saint Peter angry and he cursed her. He cursed her and turned her into a bird (woodpecker).
➩ Every little boy has seen her in woods. Then she lives in the trees and bores for her food in the hard wood.
