According to me the author supported the girl because the author has written the story according to the views of the girl. The protest of the little girl, sense the understanding of the situation, strategy to accomplish her mission and successing in her attempt to ring the bell , mentioned in the story show us that the author is supporting the girl. The author also supported her by adding the line "all are equal in the eyes of God ".So we can came to the conclusion that the author has supported the little girl .
