Answer:

largest number of animals in each trip is 37 and the number of trips he will made is 16

Step-by-step explanation:

111Cows,185 Sheep and 296 Goats are to be taken across a river .There is only one boat

We have

Number of cows = 111

Number of sheep = 185

Number of goats = 296

According to the condition of the boatman,

the same number and the same kind of animals in each trip

that is we need to find HCF of 111, 185 and 296

we can write ,

111 = 3 x 37

185 = 5 x 37

296 = 2 x 2 x 2 x 37

∴ the HCF of 111 , 185 , 296 is 37

hence the number of animals in same kind is 37

number of trip for cows 111 / 37 = 3

number of trip for sheep 185 / 37 = 5

number of trip for goats 296 / 37 = 2×2×2 = 8

then total number of trips = 3 + 5 + 8 = 16

therefore largest number of animals in each trip is 37 and the number of trips he will made is 16
