Jo goes and meets Laurie who takes some gifts with her so that would cheer up Laurie. Jo visits Laurie and she takes along a box of kittens and food cooked by Meg. Laurie and Jo talk for a while after which Jo asks if she can be back in a few minutes. Jo leaves and ends up looking at a picture of Laurie's grandfather. She indulges in talking to herself when his grandfather hears her. Jo was a blunt girl and she was comparing Laurie's grandfather with her own. She critiqued on this portrait.
