1. Rajendra deshpande was a historian. he helped the narrator in solving the puzzle he had in his mind regarding his travel. Deshpande qouted that gaitonde made a transition between 2 worlds.
2. Proff Gaitonde was a historian and researcher. He had written five volumes on history. However, his research work was still not complete and it was going on. His plan in Bombay was to visit a big library and consult the history books.
