12. A and B can finish a piece of work in 6 days and 4 days, respectively, working alone.
A started the work. After 2 days, he was joined by B. Find the time taken to finish the

that means,

A's one day work is 1/6,

B's one day work is 1/4.

A started the work and do alone for 2 days,

that means he complete 2/6=1/3 of total work.

then, A and B do the work together,let it be X days to complete the remaining 2/3 work,

therefore,X/6+X/4 = 2/3,

=>5X/12 = 2/3,

=>X=8/5=1(3/5)days,

therefore,the time taken to finish remaining work is 1(3/5)days.
