12. A diagonal of a quadrilateral is 40 m long and the
perpendiculars to it from the opposite corners
are 8 m and 10 m respectively. Find its area. (Fig.

Diagonal of quadrilateral = 40 m

Let the two perpendicular be x and y.

x = 8 m and y = 10 m

Area of quadrilateral = d/2(x + y)

==> 40/2(8 + 10)

==> 20 * 18

==> 360 m²

Area of the given quadrilateral = 360 m²
