In four years time, he will be three times
as old as his son. What are their present

Let the age of son be x yrs

the age of father is 4x yrs

after 4yrs son will be ( x+4) yrs old

and then father will be (4x+4) yrs old

hence,4x+4=3×(x+4)

or,4x+4= 3x+12

or,4x-3x=12-4

or,x=8

the present age of son is 8 yrs

and the present age of father is (4×8)=32 yrs
