Wodeyars have their roots from Yaduvansh( Family of Yadu or Yadav). Many Yadav Kshatriya migrated to different regions of India such as Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chattisgarh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka etc.
