SOLUTION

TO CHOOSE THE CORRECT OPTION

Evaluate the zeroes of the polynomial 2x²+ 14x + 20

(a) -2,-5

(b) 2,5

(c) 2,5

(d) -5,2

EVALUATION

Here the given polynomial is

 \sf 2 {x}^{2} + 14x + 20

For Zeroes of the polynomial we have

 \sf 2 {x}^{2} + 14x + 20 = 0

 \sf \implies \: 2 ({x}^{2} + 7x + 10) = 0

 \sf \implies \: {x}^{2} + 7x + 10 = 0

 \sf \implies \: {x}^{2} + (5 + 2)x + 10 = 0

 \sf \implies \: {x}^{2} + 5x + 2x + 10 = 0

 \sf \implies \: x(x + 5) + 2(x + 5) = 0

 \sf \implies \: (x + 2) (x + 5) = 0

Now ,

x + 2 = 0 gives x = - 2

x + 5 = 0 gives x = - 5

So the zeroes are - 5 , - 2

FINAL ANSWER

Hence the correct option is (a) - 2 , - 5
