Answer :

Find,

  • The mean proportion of the following numbers.

★ 2 and 8

Let the mean proportion be x,

= \dfrac{2}{x} = \dfrac{x}{8}

= {x}^{2} = 2 × 8

= {x}^{2} = 16

= x = √16

= x = 4

The mean proportion is 4.

★ 5 and 125

Let the mean proportion be x,

= \dfrac{5}{x} = \dfrac{x}{125}

= {x}^{2} = 5 × 125

= {x}^{2} = 625

= x = √625

= x = 25

The mean proportion of x is 25.

★ 4 and 36

Let the mean proportion be x,

= \dfrac{4}{x} = \dfrac{x}{36}

= {x}^{2} = 4×36

= {x}^{2} = 144

= x = √144

= x = 12

The mean proportion of x is 12.
