SOLUTION

TO CHOOSE THE CORRECT OPTION

For comparing countries, their income is considered to be one of the most Important attributes. Assume there are six families in a country. The average per capita income of these families is Rs 13000. If the income of five families is Rs 9000, Rs 11000, Rs 16500, Rs 8500, and Rs 14600 respectively, what is the income of the sixth family

A. 19700

B. 18400

C. 6000

D. 9400

EVALUATION

Here it is given that the average per capita income of these families is Rs 13000

So total income

= Rs. ( 6 × 13000 )

= Rs. 78000

Again the income of five families is Rs 9000, Rs 11000, Rs 16500, Rs 8500, and Rs 14600 respectively

So the total income of five families

= Rs. (9000 + 11000 + 16500 + 8500 + 14600)

= Rs. 59600

Hence the income of the sixth family

= Rs. ( 78000 - 59600)

= Rs. 18400

FINAL ANSWER

Hence the correct option is B. 18400
