Answer:Mass of C02 that escapes = 5.28g

Explanation:The chemical equation of the reaction is :

CaCO3 => CaO + CO2

No. Of moles of CaCO3 = given mass(in g) /  molar mass = 12 / 100= 0.12 mol.

{'=>' stands for 'gives' or 'requires' depending upon the condition}

According to the chemical reaction,

1 mol.of CaCO3 => 1 mol. Of CO2

Therefore,  0.12 mol. Of CaCO3 =>  'x' mol. Of CO2

Therefore, x × 1 =  1 × 0.12

x = 0.12 mol.

Therefore, 0.12 mol. Of CO2 escapes

It's mass in g = No. Of moles × molar mass

= 0.12 × 44

= 5.28g

Therefore, 5.28 g of CO2 escapes...

Hope this helps....
