Given : M₁₁ = -40 , M₁₂ = - 10  , M₁₃ = 35

\triangle = \left|\begin{array}{ccc}1&3&-2\\4&-5&6\\3&5&2\end{array}\right|

To Find : Determinant

Solution:

\triangle = \left|\begin{array}{ccc}1&3&-2\\4&-5&6\\3&5&2\end{array}\right|

a₁₁ = 1   , a₁₂ = 3  a₁₃ = -1

Determinant   = \sum(-1)^{i+j}a_{ij}M_{ij}

Determinant   = (-1)¹⁺¹a₁₁M₁₁  +(-1)¹⁺² a₁₂M₁₂ + (-1)¹⁺³a₁₃M₁₃

= 1 (-40) - 3(-10) -2(35)

= -40 + 30 - 70

= -80

Determinant is -80
