12. In the adjoining figure, the lines 1, m and n are parallel to each other, and G is mid-point
of CD. Calculate:
(1) BG if AD = 6 cm
(2) CF if GE = 2.3 cm
(3) AB if BC = 2.4 cm
(4) ED if FD = 4.4 cm.

Given :   the lines I, m and n are parallel to each other, and G is mid-

point of CD

To Find :  Calculate:

(1) BG if AD = 6 cm

(ii) CF if GE = 2.3 cm

(iii) AB if BC = 2.4 cm

(iv) ED if FD = 4.4 cm.

Solution:

l || m || n

=> BG || AD

in ΔCAD  , BG || AD

=> B is also midpoint as G is mid point  ( Using BPT)

AB = BC => AB = 2.4 cm

line joining the mid-point of two sides of a triangle is equal to half the length of the third side

=> BG = AD/2

=> BG = 6/2

=> BG = 3 cm

Similarly  GE || CF

=> E is also midpoint as G is mid point  ( Using BPT)

ED = FD => ED = 4.4 cm

Hence GE = CF/2

=> 2.3 = CF/2

=> CF = 4.6 cm
