we know that ABC is a right angled triangle

therefor , by using Pythagoras theorem we get

AC²=AB²+BC²

AC²=9²cm + 40² cm

AC²=81 cm + 1600cm

AC²=1681

AC=√1681

AC=41

hence the length of AC is 41 cm
