area of square = a ^{2}  \\  = (10) ^{2}  \\  = 100

now

area of circle =πr ^{2}  \\  \frac{22}{7}  \times 7 \\  = 22

find the shaded region = area of square-area of circle

100 - 22 = 78

hence; area of shaded region = 78 cm
