Answer:
Finding number of days
Given: 12 men or 15 women can finish a work in 24 days.
To find: In how many days, the same work can be finished by 8 men and 18 women.
Solution:
Here, 12 men is equivalent to 15 women (in order to finish a work)
i.e., 12 men = 15 women
i.e., 1 men = 15/12 women
i.e., 1 men = 5/4 women
Then, 8 men = 8 × 5/4 women = 10 women
∴ 8 men + 8 women = (10 + 8) women = 18 women
Mathematically, the problem can be written as -
Women Time (Days)
15 24
18 ?
Here women and time are in inverse relation.
Thus number of requirement time is
= 24 × 15/18 days
= 24 × 5/6 days
= 4 × 5 days
= 20 days
Answer: The same work can be finished by 8 men and 8 women in 20 days.
