12% of a sum of money is ₹ 42. what is 20% of the same sum ?

12/100 x = 42
x = 42 * 100/12
= 350
so
20% = 350 * 20/100
= 70
or use ratio and proportion
12 : 42 = 20 : x
12 x = 42 * 20
x = 840/12
= 70
therefore it is Rs. 70
