Photosynthesis is the process by which plants prepare their own food. They absorb water and minerals from soil through their roots. They take carbon dioxide and sunlight from air through tiny pores on leaves called stomata. The Green pigment present on the leaves of plants, generally known as chlorophyll help the plant to prepare it food in leaves. This is why leaves are called food factory of plants. It prepares two substance in food oxygen and glucose. Oxygen is released whereas glucose is stored.
