The ball is thrown up, the value of 'g' will be c. negative.

What is 'g'?

  • It is the gravitational acceleration which is expressed in m/s^{2}.
  • It is the acceleration due to gravity of earth/ground.
  • It is a vector quantity and so depends on the direction in which it is applied.
  • The magnitude of g on earth is 9.8  m/s^{2} and the direction is towards the centre of earth.

When a ball is thrown up, the direction of g which is downwards is opposite to the motion of ball which is upwards. Hence, g is negative.
