Required Solutions:-

12) Given:-

  • Length of the rectangular park is thrice its breadth.
  • Area of the park is 48 m²

To Find:-

  • Dimensions of the park

Assumption:-

Let the breadth be x

Hence length = 3x

Solution:-

ATQ,

Area of the park is 48 m²

We know,

Area of a rectangle = Length × Breadth sq.units

Therefore,

48 = 3x × x

=> 48/3 = x²

=> x² = 16

=> x = √16

=> x = 4 m

Now,

Dimensions of the park are as follows:-

Length = 3x = 3 × 4 = 12 m

Breadth = x = 4 m

14) Given:-

  • Rahim is 4 times older than his son.
  • After 10 years, father will be twice as old as his son.

To find:-

The present age of Rahim

Assumption:-

Let the age of Rahim's son be x

Hence age of Rahim = 4x

Solution:-

Present age of Rahim's son = x years

Present age of Rahim = 4x years

After 10 years,

Age of Rahim's son = (x + 10) years

Age of Rahim = (4x + 10) years

ATQ,

= 4x + 10 = 2(x + 10)

= 4x + 10 = 2x + 20

= 4x - 2x = 20 - 10

= 2x = 10

= x = 10/2

= x = 5

Therefore,

Age of Rahim's son = x = 5 years

Age of Rahim = 4x = 4 × 5 = 20 years
